Hebron Bible School

God inspired me to start a Bible School to train evangelistic workers in the movement like the Mulakuzha Zion Hill Bible School. From my studies of Biblical prophecies, I came to realize that India, one of the eastern countries, would become independent from the British rule. I realized that when the western missionaries depart during the time of independence, the responsibility to give the Gospel to India would fall on the shoulders of the local people. God gave me the conviction that it is imperative to give Biblical understanding and evangelistic training to young people. Therefore, in Edavom M. E. 1105 June 1930), we started classes in the main room of the house where we were staying. (Although the school started thus’ it was namedHebron Bible School some time later. I will write about it suitably.) I was the only teacher during that year. Students from Kumbanad, Eraviperoor, Tharasserry, Had Nellimala, Poovathoor, Pullad, Nellimala, Koipuram, Othera, Ennikkad, Puramattom and other places came to study, staying in their houses. Each class was conducted in an atmosphere of the movement of the Holy Spirit. The Lord has made me glad watching many of those students now shining in the Lord’s ministry.

This is how the school started. I was fasting and praying because we were launching a new enterprise. Although there was food at home during the daytime, I did not eat as I spent time in fasting and prayer. In the evening, we had no food. I was hungry as preparations were underway for the Bible School to begin. I plucked a raw mango from the mango tree in the front yard, ate it, and went to start the school. The Hebron Bible School is an institution that started thus – amidst starvation.
