Pastors are not created by seminaries, but God makes pastors and seminaries can only train those who have been called by God.
Thomson K. Mathew traces his roots to the St. Thomas Christians of South India. He is an ordained minister whose grandfather and father were both Pentecostal pastors. He is a graduate of Kerala University, India (B. S.), Yale University Divinity School (M. Div., S.T.M.), Oral Roberts University (D.Min.), and Oklahoma State University (Ed.D.). Thomson Mathew served as professor of pastoral care and dean at Oral Roberts University College of Theology and Ministry in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. After pastoring a church in Connecticut for five years, he began his career at the university as a Chaplain at the City of Faith Medical Center and later joined the ORU Seminary faculty. Mathew served as the Dean of the College of Theology and Ministry from January 1, 2000 through July 2016.
Mrs. Molly Mathew has a very similar background, having been raised as a daughter and granddaughter of Pentecostal preachers in India. The Mathews have two adult daughters, a psychologist and an attorney, and two grandsons. Like their father, the Mathew sisters are graduates of Oral Roberts University, both graduating as class speakers.
Thomson Mathew is a bilingual writer of books and articles. His books include Spiritual Identity and Spirit-Empowered Life(2017), Spirit-led Ministry in the 21st Century (Revised and Updated Edition, 2017), What Will Your Tombstone Say? (Revised and Updated Edition, 2018), and Ministry Between Miracles (2002), Ministry Research Simplified (2018), and Spiritual Identity & Spirit-Empowered Life Leader’s Guide (2018).
Mathew has had the opportunity to preach the gospel in several nations. He has preached at possibly the smallest church on earth (a church that met in a garage) and in the largest church in the world – Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, Korea, founded by Rev. David Yonggi Cho. Preaching the gospel and training people for ministry and leadership remain Thomson Mathew’s energizing life goals.
